With the first game nearly upon us, we sat down with new First Team Coach, Darren Edwards to see how he is settling in to life at Bath Rugby, and what his thoughts on the season ahead are.
"I was really excited to start working here at Bath. There is a really good atmosphere within the squad, and some very talented players to work with, which is a great situation to step into as a coach.
"My role focusing on individual skills means that I look at a player's game and work out the ways they can improve, ways they can make those marginal gains, which will help them as an individual, and the squad develop as a whole. It's a good challenge for me, and the boys have really knuckled down so far and responded really well.
"I'm used to some very passionate crowds in Wales, and I'm looking forward to a similar reception at the Rec on Saturday. Bath supporters have a reputation for being very knowledgeable and loyal to their Club, so I'm looking forward to meeting them. It's a big lift as coaches and players to know you'll get a big support, especially at home games.
"It's been a really good pre-season so far, and these next two games against Scarlets and Jersey are the next stage in our plans to be ready for the start of the season in September.
"We're working hard every day to improve and the games give us a marker to see how far we are along and the areas we still need to work on. We want to give all the players the chance to get some game time and put themselves forward for consideration when it comes to the game against Sale in a few weeks."
