Anthony Watson believes that the derby win against Bristol Rugby on Friday will act as a huge confidence boost for the team ahead of Saturday's home fixture against Pau.
The England international played a pivotal role for the Blue, Black and White on the wing in their eight-try, 57-22 triumph away at Ashton Gate and was pleased to get back to winning ways.
"I think first and foremost it was outstanding to get out there. We were pretty disappointed to lose two or three on the bounce, so to go out there and put in a good performance against Bristol was definitely something that we needed to do.
"I think we showed that, particularly in the first half with our style of play. It was masterminded by George (Ford), but I think the whole team bought into our ethos and showed what we can do."
After three months out with injury, Watson has returned to the fold in recent weeks and admits that the competition across the field will bring out the best out of the squad in the second half of the season.
"From the start of the season, we've had competition for places across the board and the boys have been stepping up showing what they can do when they get the chance. Whilst you've got the shirt, you've got to make the most of it no matter who you are or where you've played before."
Up next for Bath is the visit of Pau on Saturday and with progression from the pool stages at stake, the 22-year-old is confident that Bath can do what is needed to overcome their French opposition.
"I think you can expect the unexpected from a French side like Pau. They like to throw the ball around and they've got a big, strong forward pack, like most French sides do, so they'll probably look for mauls and scrums.
But we've got to concentrate on ourselves, which is the most important thing and implement our game plan on the opposition. We'll be 100% ready to go on Saturday."
