Bath Rugby’s Compeed Walking Rugby programme once again proved a great success with a high number of participants taking part in the eight-week programme in June.
After the success of 2021 where committed individuals joined in to make some positive changes to their lives, this year followed in similar fashion with participants introduced, and reintroduced, to the game of rugby as well as having the opportunity to socialise and be a part of a team - something some hadn’t experienced for a long time.
The programme ran predominantly from The Rec with two sessions at Bath Rugby’s training base, Farleigh House, and it has reignited the belief in participants that they can still play the game they love and meet new friends in the process.
One participant, Rich, says the programme has allowed him to become more sociable and healthier too.
“I feel healthier with taking on more exercise and I don’t feel people realise how quick Walking Rugby is!
“It’s been really great to be able to meet loads of new people; I have become more social. We’ve all kept in contact away from the game via a what’s app group and have been messaging most days.
"I’ve always been quite a quiet person so to have the opportunity to come out and meet new people has been really good.”
