One of the biggest rivalries in University rugby will play out tomorrow, with University of Bath’s Men’s First XV taking on Loughborough University at the Recreation Ground, kick-off 18:30.
Entry to the home of Bath Rugby is free, so why not head down and cheer the home side on?
The two sides will go head-to-head in the BUCS Super Rugby league, with the Anniversary Game, sponsored by Iesis Group, commemorating the University of Bath receiving its Royal Charter in October 1966.
The likes of Will Flinn, George Frampton, Will Britton and Craig Duncan have all represented Bath United this season in the Premiership Rugby A League, and they’ll be looking to lead their University teammates to victory on the hallowed turf of the Rec.
The BUCS Super Rugby league brings together the very best British university rugby programmes across England and Wales – and the University of Bath is proud and honoured to be a founder member.
The competition – organised by BUCS [British Universities and Colleges Sport] and supported by the Rugby Football Union and the Welsh Rugby Union – has been designed to raise the profile of university rugby, progress the level of performance to National League standard and establish a pathway to elite and professional rugby.
The University of Bath is one of only nine rugby-playing higher-education institutions in England and Wales to compete in Super Rugby, with the Blue and Gold – sponsored by IKON Construction – looking to build on their fine fifth-placed finish in the 2016-17 debut season. They also reached the semi-finals of the BUCS Rugby Championships.
