The Bath Rugby 7s Club Championship in association with Dyson returns for the second year this Sunday, as some of the brightest talent in the West Country go head-to-head at the Recreation Ground.
The tournament, which coincides with Bath Rugby’s last home game of the Aviva Premiership season against Gloucester Rugby, will see eight local U14 teams following in the footsteps of their heroes in the Blue, Black and White.
Getting underway at 9:30, teams will be split into two groups of four, with the group stage games taking place on the outfield. The top two teams will advance to the final, which will take place at the half-time interval on the main pitch in front of a capacity crowd.
Managing Director at Bath Rugby, Tarquin McDonald, said: “Rugby plays an integral role in the local community and we, along Dyson, are committed to giving back to the clubs in the area. Playing at the Recreation Ground is something that very few get the chance to do, so it’s a huge opportunity for the eight teams taking part on the day. A Final on the main pitch at half-time will only provide added incentive for those looking to grace the famous Rec turf.”
Managing Director at Dyson, Steve Wichary, said: “Through our partnership with Bath Rugby, we’re delighted to be supporting the grassroots of the game. Last year’s tournament illustrated the appetite for rugby in the local area and we’re looking forward to seeing that growth in years to come.”
Dyson will also provide tickets to all participating players to watch the big derby game from the stands in what promises be an exciting day for all the family at the Recreation Ground.
