Six Nations Watch

6 February 2018

The Six Nations got underway over the weekend, with a number of Bath Rugby players in action. Here's how they got on...

Italy v England

Bath Rugby’s Anthony Watson scored twice, as he inspired England to a 15-46 victory against Italy in Rome.

Watson, who started on the right wing, got England’s title defence off to a flying start scoring after just three minutes after finishing off a sweeping move in the corner.

The Bath flyer got his second eight minutes later, showing his acceleration and strength, as he sprinted in from the Italy 10m line. The 23-year-old fended off the attentions of three Italian defenders cross the whitewash, despite the best efforts of opposite number Tomasso Benvenuti.

Watson’s Club teammates Jonathan Joseph and Sam Underhill both made an impact as second-half replacements, with England crossing seven times at the Stadio Olimpico.

Final score – Italy 15-46 England

Bath Rugby Foundation’s Caryl Thomas helped Wales to a narrow 18-17 triumph over Scotland in Colwyn Bay

Leading 13-0 going into the interval, the visitors hit back with three second-half tries. However, Wales hung on to give themselves a winning start to their Six Nations campaign.
