Bath Rugby wing Semesa Rokoduguni has rounded off an incredible 24 hours by being named Aviva Premiership Rugby Player of the Month for October.
Yesterday, the British Army Lance Corporal was named in England's team to take on New Zealand this Saturday and today earns another accolade after he was selected by the esteemed panel of rugby media and, for the first time, the fans, who joined the panel as the '10th Judge'. Rokoduguni's award follows on from Bath teammate Kyle Eastmond winning the same accolade for September, whilst George Ford was November's Player of the Month last season.
"Roko has had an amazing start to the season," said former England wing Austin Healey. "He has very few issues with his game hence his selection ahead of potentially more established wingers for the England squad.
"He has amazing feet; defensively he's strong and has a great attitude. To be honest though you'd expect nothing less from a man who's served his country.
"There are men you meet or read of their achievements that you immediately have respect for, Roko is one such man. He is a well-deserved winner of the Aviva Premiership Rugby Player of the Month. His next mission is marking Julian Savea the most dangerous winger in world rugby. I'm sure he'll rise to that challenge for his country!"
Rokoduguni beat an impressive shortlist of Saracens wing David Strettle, Exeter Chiefs centre Henry Slade, Northampton Saints wing George North and Leicester Tigers blindside Jamie Gibson.
In a first for the Aviva Premiership Player of the Month award, rugby fans also had their say on who deserves to win the coveted monthly award, as they became the 10th Judge. Joining the panel of nine judges, fans voted for the player that had impressed them the most during the month of October.
Fans can get involved and vote for their Aviva Premiership Player of the Month for November by visiting www.aviva.co.uk/10thjudge from noon on Monday 1st December. Each month, one lucky fan will be selected at random and win four tickets to an Aviva Premiership Rugby game of their choice!
Alongside hundreds of fans Rokoduguni was voted for by a panel of media professionals: Nick Mullins (BT Sport), Alastair Eykyn (BT Sport), Mick Cleary (Daily Telegraph), Steve James (Sunday Telegraph), Sarah Mockford (Rugby World), Jill Douglas (ITV Sport), Chris Jones (Radio 5 Live), David Rogers (Getty Images) and Ben Coles (Planet Rugby). The panel was chaired by Paul Morgan Premiership Rugby's Communications Director.
Rokoduguni wins a trophy and £250 to donate to a charity of his choice.
