Bath Rugby is saddened to learn of the passing of former player Phil Kernan.
Phil’s association with the Blue, Black and White began in 1987 when he appeared for Bath Youth before representing Somerset Colts on four occasions a year later.
Educated at Beechen Cliff School, he became a regular for Bath United at full-back over a five-year period between 1989 and 1994.
During his time at the club, Phil made one first team outing for Bath Rugby in February 1991, coming on for Jonathan Webb in a 68-0 victory over Barnstaple RFC.
Club President John Hall was on the field that day and commented on Phil’s warm personality and impact at the club.
“Phil was such a lovely person who always had time for everyone. He was the rock of the Bath United and Spartan side for many years, back in the day. He will be sadly missed.
“My sincere heartfelt condolences go out to his friends and family. Rest in peace, Phil.”
A player, coach, a committee member and a friend to many at Bath, Oldfield RFC, Chippenham RFC, Combe Down RFC and Corsham RFC, the club’s thoughts are with everyone who knew and loved Phil.
