It has been a hugely busy return to coaching for our community team, who have attracted record numbers across Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset this Easter.
Over the Easter break, 700-plus children attended one of the 11 coaching camps held at grassroots clubs across the Bath Rugby catchment area - with the majority of these selling out in a number of days!
Of the 700-plus players, over 200 were attending their very first coaching camp which is especially pleasing for our coaches who are continually trying to grow the sport we love.
This Easter marked another milestone for our club, launching our brand-new female only coaching camps at Wells RFC and Lambridge Training Ground in collaboration with Bath Ladies.
Similarly to the mixed camps, there was a great turnout with some incredible talent on show, with many girls attending both camps as they enjoyed the first so much.
Bath Rugby Ladies players and coaches helped deliver the camp at Lambridge Training Ground, which is the first of what will become a regular fixture in all school holidays moving forward.
Expressing his delight at the significant interest, Delivery Lead Tom Page said: “It’s been unbelievable. Children across the 11 camps are chomping at the bit to get back on the pitch and start playing again.
"Having gone so long without playing, we were worried about whether there would be a fall in participation but these numbers suggest otherwise which is incredibly pleasing. Long may it continue!”
Everybody at Bath Rugby would like to thank Frome RFC, Wells RFC, North Dorset RFC, Wimborne RFC, Bath RFC, Bath Ladies, Devizes RFC, Somerton RFC, Supermarine RFC, Corsham RFC and Combe Down for all hosting these camps and helping us attract such large numbers. We look forward to seeing you all soon.
May Skills Series
Bath Rugby is excited to announce our new Skills Series Programme!
Our Skills Series will be led by Bath Rugby Academy and Community Coaches and will aim to deliver a two-hour session around a selected principle of the game. We will be hitting five of our community clubs over five nights with each night having a different focus.
We do expect these Skills Series sessions to sell out extremely quickly, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
