Press notes with Director of Rugby Stuart Hooper following Tuesday's media conference ahead of the Round 10 tie with Worcester Warriors in the Gallagher Premiership. Here are some of the key points he spoke about...
On Leicester Tigers performance
“It wasn’t a vintage performance, but we’ve spent time picking over it and we’ve learnt a lot of things from it. What we’ve done now is reflect on the 19 games we’ve had, our Premiership performances and look at how we go into the next block of the season.
"It’s very different now with how the season goes because, after having 19 games in a row, now the longest run of games that we have coming up is four, so it’s a big difference and it allows for a different focus.”
On Worcester Warriors
“Worcester have shown this year that they have some decent attacking intent. Looking at their statistics, they have the second highest offloads and passes with ball in possession (in the Premiership).
"They’re looking to play a bit more rugby and they have some dangerous players. We’re making sure that we have a plan to go to Sixways and beat them.”
Playing on an artificial surface at Sixways
“There are tactical elements to playing on an artificial surface. We need to make sure we understand the kicking game and what it can give to you.
"The pace it adds to a game and the energy you control during the game are important, because they are fast. We need to make sure we’re tactically on top of those things to allow us to go out there and give us every opportunity of beating Worcester.”
Anthony Watson injury
“He’s doing well. He’s working on that calf injury, which has been ongoing. As I’ve said before, he is incredibly diligent and working very hard to make sure he is available as soon as possibly can be, whether that be for us or for England.”
