Scrum-half Ben Spencer faced the press ahead of the Round 17 fixture against Wasps as the Blue, Black and White host their midland counterparts at the Rec on Monday afternoon. Here is what he had to say…
On fixture turnaround and rotation
“You want to play as much as possible. Looking at it in long term, it is probably not a bad thing to sit out a game or two here or there due to the quick turn arounds and minutes allowed. The guys have had five months of and I’m not feeling too bad. It has to be done for the welfare of the players.
On squad selection
“We are looking to field our strongest 23 every week so, we have a sight and that sight is to crack the top four. Whatever side we put out, it’s a side that wants to win, it’s not to give lads game time. We want to win. Everyone is hungry to play, and everyone wants to play and ultimately the team that is picked is the best team to try and win the game.
On adapting to life at Bath Rugby
“The squad are so young and may have some inexperience in a few areas but whether it is in training or games, the lads are fighting for each other. The will to win here is huge. The good thing about now is that people are going to get opportunities which is good because it keeps that hunger and creates a good vibe for training.
