Perenise to leave Bath Rugby

7 January 2014

Bath Rugby can confirm that Anthony Perenise will leave the Club at the end of the season to join GKIPA Championship promotion hunters Bristol Rugby.

31 year old Samoan international Perenise, who joined Bath in 2011, has made nearly 70 appearances to date for the West Country side, including starting at both loosehead and tighthead this season.

Speaking of his decision to leave, the prop said: "It's been a tough decision to make, but I feel that signing for Bristol is the right move for me and my family. I've really enjoyed my time at Bath, having made some great friends, and I'd like to thank them and all the Bath supporters who have made my time here so good. Now the decision has been made, my focus is 100% on working hard and helping this squad achieve our aims for the rest of the season."

Bath Head Coach Mike Ford added: "Although very disappointed to see him leave, Bath Rugby respects the decision Anthony has made at this stage of his career because he has served the Club so well during his time here. He has been a fantastic player to have in this squad, and we know that we will continue to get the very best from him until the end of the season. He's playing some great rugby at the moment, and has stepped up to play on either side when we've needed him to. I'm sure he'll be successful at Bristol, and we wish him all the best."
