Bath Rugby players enjoyed supporting the Club’s main partner Novia Financial when they held their annual charity cricket match at the Bathampton cricket ground recently, raising over £12,742 for the Bath Rugby Foundation.
Bath Rugby’s Matt Powell and Nick Abendanon joined the Novia Financial Mallards, and Dan Hipkiss and Ross Batty played for the Novia Investment Services Hawks, in a closely fought encounter for the Novia Charity Challenge Trophy. The Mallards just scraped through with an impressive score of 118 to 112 at close of play.
Former Bath Rugby and England prop David Flatman hosted the charity raffle and auction. Prizes included a lap top computer, an Ipad, an LG LED TV, a weeks holiday in a luxury chalet, a signed rugby shirt and ball, a training session for children at Bath Rugby, a day sailing on the Solent, hospitality at Edgbaston for the T20 match, blackberry curve, as well as a weekend for two at the Bath Spa hotel.
Scott Caine, Novia Investment Solutions Head of Operations said: “We are thrilled to have raised over £12,000 for such a worthwhile charity as the Bath Rugby Foundation; we have seen the superb services and support that the Foundation has provided. This Novia charity challenge is the second time that the Mallards have faced the Hawks on the pitch, and we are delighted that this year’s total is more than double what we raised last year. I would like to thank Bath Rugby for generously donating a number of prizes as well as providing pivotal support on the day. I would also like to thank our sponsors who made it possible for us to put on this event. As one of Bath’s largest employers we remain absolutely committed to supporting the local area and look forward to being involved in many more charity events to come.”
Foundation Manager Jimmy Deane said: “Everyone involved in the Foundation would like to say thank you to Novia and its amazing staff who took part, the generosity shown will ultimately go towards helping and supporting local young people in and around the Bath area.”
The Bath Rugby Foundation supports disadvantaged children in the local area by using sport to motivate and inspire their development.
