Bath Rugby Head Coach Mike Ford has expressed his delight at having eight Club players named in England's extended training squad for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
Dave Attwood, Sam Burgess, Kyle Eastmond, George Ford, Jonathan Joseph, Anthony Watson, Rob Webber and David Wilson have all been named in Stuart Lancaster's 50-man squad, which will meet up at Pennyhill Park on Monday 22nd June.
"I'm delighted for those eight players," said Ford, who was part of the coaching set-up that took England to the 2007 World Cup Final. "Their selection is the accumulation of all the hard work put in by the entire playing squad here at Bath since August."
"It's an environment where everybody's bought into the idea of getting better every day. Part of the pay-off for these guys is that they're one step closer to playing in a home Rugby World Cup, which is a truly amazing thing"
However, Ford added that he felt deeply disappointed for the players who have missed out on a spot in the squad.
Ford said: "The likes of Matt Banahan, Semesa Rokoduguni and Henry Thomas are desperately unlucky to have missed out. Thankfully they, and others, now have the chance of proving what they can do over what we hope will be a two-week period in the Premiership."
Bath Rugby will face Leicester Tigers this Saturday at the Rec in a first ever home Aviva Premiership semi-final for the Club.
