A walk, a pie, a pint and a Six Nations fundraiser...
Back for a fourth fantastic year, this popular men-only eight-mile walk will take place on Saturday 27 February 2016 and aims to raise much-needed funds for the Bath Rugby Foundation and Dorothy House Hospice Care. Registration for this event is now open.
With record numbers of walkers anticipated to sign up, the men will set out from Dorothy House, Winsley at 1pm and finish at the Recreation Ground - home of Bath Rugby - with a pie, a pint and the Six Nations clash between England and Ireland.
And groups of 12 to 20 walkers who book the event together will get the opportunity to watch the game in the comfort of their own private box at The Rec.
Dorothy House events fundraiser Emily Knight said: “This is an amazing event and we can’t wait to be working alongside Bath Rugby Foundation once again in 2016. We hope all our walkers will have a great day with beer, friends and rugby, knowing they’re raising a fantastic amount of money to enable two local charities to continue their vital work.”
Bath Rugby Foundation quote here: “I am not surprised that this event has grown four fold in the past four years. It is a wonderful partnership and a great day out for the fundraising walkers”
John Glass from Melksham completed the walk last year: “I was really surprised at the number of men taking part and how many of them I knew,” he said. “There was a lot of leg-pulling. The walk was great. There was something new round every corner and we stopped off for a beer at one of the pubs along the way. It was a great day and I’m really looking forward to doing it all again in 2016.”
The Bath Men’s Walk is open to men and boys, aged 12 years or over on the day of the event.
The entry fee is £23; in addition, all walkers will be expected to raise sponsorship money or make a personal donation in lieu of sponsorship (suggested minimum £50 / under 18s £25). Entry fee includes a T-Shirt! Registration online is at www.bathmenswalk.co.uk or phone Emily Knight on 01225 721480.
