During the first week of his world tour, Bath Rugby’s Junior Membership Club leader Max has been enjoying the sights and sounds of Paris, the capital city of France.
“I’ve had a fantastic time learning all sorts of interesting facts about this magnificent city,” said Max in his weekly postcard, as he prepared to leave Paris for his next surprise destination. “There are many rugby fans out here, so I did get noticed occasionally, but I was more than happy to pose for photographs.”
Here are some of the things Max learnt during his time in Paris:
- The Arc de Triomphe, pictured, was built under the orders of Emperor Napoleon in the early 1800s after he told his conquering army: “You will return home through arches of triumph”.
- Another famous Parisian monument, the Eiffel Tower, needs 50 tonnes of paint every seven years to keep it looking presentable.
- The famous Louvre Museum is one of the largest museums in the world. It is home to Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
We should be receiving a postcard from Max next Monday, so be sure to check our website and social media for more updates on his travels.
