Matt Banahan called up to England Senior Squad

30 January 2012

Matt Banahan has been called up to the England Senior Elite Playing Squad to prepare for Saturday's RBS 6 Nations match against Scotland at Murrayfield, replacing Gloucester's Henry Trinder who is suffering from an ankle injury.

Leicester Tigers No.8, Thomas Waldrom, has also been called up in place of Luke Narraway who has a calf injury.  Both Banahan and Waldron played crucial roles in the England Saxons side that beat the Ireland Wolfhounds 23-17 at Exeter on Saturday.

Also staying at their clubs this week are Leicester Tigers fly half Toby Flood (knee), Northampton Saints lock Courtney Lawes (knee), Leicester Tigers centre Manusamoa Tuilagi (calf) and Northampton Saints flanker Tom Wood (foot).
