"Leader" Ewels to captain England U20s against Wales

5 February 2015

Bath Rugby Academy lock Charlie Ewels will lead England Under 20s against Wales in Saturday night's game at Parc Eirias in Colwyn Bay (kick-off 7.30pm, live on S4C).

Ewels captains the side for the first time, and is joined by Club teammates Rory Jennings and Max Clark in the starting line-up. All three Academy players featured in Bath's LV= Cup win against Harlequins last Saturday - the Club's first at the Stoop since 2006.

Defending world champions England have named five players from last season's successful Junior World Championship campaign in New Zealand.

On Ewels leading the side, Head Coach John Callard said: "Charlie is a leader. He's been playing first team rugby for Bath and has come up against France internationals Louis Picamoles, Imanol Harinordoquy and Thierry Dusautoir this season – that kind of experience is second to none and will stand us in good stead."

"Wales are a fabulous nation who love their rugby and we're excited about taking them on. We have trained well this week and have a healthy blend of experienced and new players in this squad."

Supporters are urged to purchase tickets for the games soon to avoid disappointment. Tickets are on sale now from the official WRU website (wru.wales/tickets), from venuecymru.co.uk, by calling 01492872000 or to personal callers at Colwyn Leisure Centre and Venue Cymru, Llandudno.

Prices have been frozen for the second consecutive year for Wales Under 20 meaning seated tickets are £15 and terrace tickets are £10 and £5 for Under 16s and OAPs.
