Jonathan Joseph followed a stunning Man of the Match performance against Toulouse in France last weekend with being named in Stuart Lancaster's England training squad today. We caught up with the centre to get his reaction to the news.
"I found out that I had been selected yesterday through a phone call from Stuart. We spoke about areas of the game that he felt have gone well for me, and areas that can improve, but I think he's generally pleased with how I've gone so far this season. Now I just need to keep pushing myself to get better, and go into camp and do all I can to put my hand up for selection.
"It's great that so many Bath players have been included, and it's a credit to the Club and how we're playing at the moment.
"It would obviously be amazing to play against Wales at the Millennium Stadium in the opening game – it's a tough place to go, but it would be a memory you'd never forget. I'd love to be involved, but I know I've got to concentrate on this week first. The only way to push my case for being included in the England matchday squad is to play well for Bath.
"I think if there was any doubt in the England coaches mind's whether to include me in the main squad or the Saxons then the Toulouse game probably helped. I think Stuart thought the game went well and he was pleased with my performance, so ultimately it may have made the difference.
"Obviously I'm very excited and honoured to be included in the squad, but I'm not thinking about it just yet. We've got a big game against Glasgow on Sunday first, so for me it's about getting my focus where it needs to be – on that game and trying to put in the best performance I can for the Club."
