International | Faletau’s Wales made to wait on Six Nations fate

20 March 2021

Taulupe Faletau and Wales were cruelly denied Grand Slam glory in the last minute of their Round 5 Six Nations clash with France in Paris.

Leading 30-27, Wayne Pivac’s side were reduced to 13 due to two late sin bins and the 14-man French hosts snuck over with the clock in the red to break Welsh hearts.

Faletau could still have a Six Nations medal to his name, but will not know if he will be a champion with his country until the conclusion of France v Scotland next Friday.

The Scots head into the match on a high after putting 50 points on Italy at Murrayfield.

Jamie Bhatti was introduced for his 18th cap in the 49th minute and was part of the pack which aided the Scotland backs to score an additional three tries, adding to five scores prior to his arrival on the field.

Meanwhile, Anthony Watson, Charlie Ewels and Will Stuart’s tournament ended in defeat as England lost 32-18 to Ireland in Dublin.
