Having only met once previously in the Premiership Rugby Cup, we take a closer look at tomorrow’s opponents Worcester Warriors who visit the Rec in round two of the competition.
Director of Rugby: Alan Solomons
Stadium: Sixways Stadium (11,499)
2018/19 Gallagher Premiership: 10th
Last meeting between the two sides: Worcester Warriors 21-19 Bath Rugby (Gallagher Premiership)
Three players to watch:
Prolific with the boot, Weir scored over 250 points in his first season with Warriors after joining from Edinburgh. Only Leicester Tigers' George Ford scored more than the fly-half during the 2018/19 campaign. Weir brings a wealth of experience to the Rec having been capped 27 times by Scotland, and will be one to watch out for this weekend.
Ted Hill joined Worcester’s senior academy ahead of the 2017/18 season and was handed his debut in the Anglo-Welsh Cup in 2017 against Sale Sharks. The talented back row forward was called up to the England squad for the 2018 Autumn internationals and made his debut against Japan in November after an impressive spell in the Gallagher Premiership.
Hougaard has been a stand-out player for the Warriors over the last few seasons since his arrival at the Club in 2016. Capped 46 times by South Africa, the vastly experienced scrum-half is a threat across the park and will look to make his mark on proceedings tomorrow afternoon.
