Last year’s Gallagher Premiership finalists Exeter Chiefs are the visitors to the Rec today. We take a closer look at our opponents for the game under the Friday night lights.
Director of Rugby: Rob Baxter
Stadium: Sandy Park (12,900)
2018/19 Gallagher Premiership: Finalists
Last meeting between the two sides: Exeter Chiefs 28-14 Bath Rugby (Premiership Rugby Cup)
Three players to watch:
Stuart Hogg
The Scottish international will make his first appearance for the Devon-based side after returning from Rugby World Cup duty. Twice player of the Six Nations in 2016 and 2017, Hogg is a serious running threat with the ability to take on long range kicking duties.
The full-back will fill the void left by Santiago Cordero and will be looking to follow the Argentinian in setting the Gallagher Premiership alight.
Ben Moon
Unfortunate not to be involved with England in Japan, Moon has been in rich form over the last few years. The long-serving prop is one of the few players in the current Exeter Chiefs squad that remains from the club's days in the RFU Championship.
A solid scrummager with an excellent work rate around the pitch, Moon will line-up in a strong front row alongside Jack Yeandle and Harry Williams.
Joe Simmonds
Simmonds has served his apprenticeship under Chiefs’ record points scorer Gareth Steenson and continues to go from strength-to-strength. Composed with the ball, the fly-half has featured prominently for the 2018/19 Gallagher Premiership finalists over the last two years.
Simmonds will join older brother Sam in the starting line-up this evening, as they look to make an impact at the Rec.
There are a limited number of tickets available for tonight’s game, with availability in the Dyson Stand (block EC). Click here to get behind the Blue, Black and White under the Friday night lights.
