The West Country derby returns to the Rec this afternoon. Here are just a few match-ups to look out for.
Semesa Rokoduguni v Matt Banahan
This weekend’s fixture will see Rokoduguni face up against former team mate Matt Banahan. Banahan scored 100 tries during his time in the Blue, Black and White. Standing at 6ft 7in and 110kg, Banahan is a threat to any Gallagher Premiership outfit with his hard running and ball carrying skills.
Rokoduguni needs no introduction – the England international has scored over 50 tries since his debut in 2012, and will look to replicate the form that saw him score seven tries in the opening seven games before injury bought a premature end to his season.
Taulupe Faletau v Ben Morgan
It will be an exciting tussle between the two back rowers this afternoon. Capped 66 times by Wales and a stand-out performer for the British and Irish Lions in 2017 and will be a key figure this afternoon. A powerful runner and deceptively quick, the number eight will look to get the better of his opposite number in the West Country derby. His opposite number will be Ben Morgan is nearing a century of appearances for the Cherry and Whites, and will look to get back to the form that saw him win 31 caps for England. After an injury-hit few seasons, Morgan will be looking to put down a marker at the Rec today.
Dave Attwood v Ed Slater
Dave Attwood will face his former side as he runs out at second row for the Blue, Black and White. Attwood has made 133 appearances for Bath and has been one of the stand-out performers during the Club’s pre-season campaign. Ed Slater will also be looking to make his presence known, with the Gloucester captain a key figure in the pack. The lock was the match-winner at the Rec last time around with a last-gasp try, and this promises to be an exciting match up.
