Former Bath player coaches future stars to World Cup victory

24 June 2013

Bath Rugby are delighted to congratulate former first team player Nick Walshe on coaching England U20s – including Bath players Ollie Devoto, David Sisi and Anthony Watson - to victory in the Junior World Cup.

The three Bath boys formed part of the all conquering team that beat Wales 23-15 in Vannes, France, on Sunday night, and their coach was extremely impressed by their efforts.

Walshe said: "I'm absolutely delighted. The lads certainly did it the hard way, but we showed real character in the second half and it's amazing to get the win. We put a strong emphasis on performance, and in the second 40 we delivered. These guys have worked so hard, not only over the past few weeks, but over the course of the season, and they deserve their win."

Bath Head Coach, Gary Gold, also commented: "The England team showed tremendous composure and courage to win that final. That side was choc a bloc with real talent and I am pleased to say that some of the very best players on show were Bath players. Add to that the five players we saw performing so well for the England senior team in Argentina – as well as Tom Heathcote for Scotland – and Bath's future certainly looks exciting."
