Ford named Aviva Premiership Rugby Player of the Month

17 December 2013

George Ford's "exceptional work ethic" has helped the Bath Rugby outside half win the title of Aviva Premiership Rugby Player of the Month for November, it was confirmed today.

Ford has been instrumental in Bath's rise into the Aviva Premiership Rugby top four and he has climbed to the top of the League's scoring charts with 111 points already this term.

His form this season has been acclaimed by former England star and current Aviva ambassador Austin Healey, who believes it is only a matter of time before Ford wins his first England cap.

Healey said: "Over the past few months George Ford has ticked all the boxes required to become the England No 10. He has developed his game in terms of stability, goal kicking and territorial control, whilst maintaining a unique ability to take the ball to the line."

Healey believes that Ford would not look out of place in the current England set-up under Stuart Lancaster and could even feature in the next RBS 6 Nations campaign.

Healey added: "With England's forwards starting to dominate, George could fit perfectly into the 10 shirt for the Six Nations and is a worthy winner of the Aviva Premiership Rugby Player of the Month. He will hopefully continue to thrive at Bath."

Ford beat Exeter Chiefs captain Dean Mumm and Harlequins No 8 Nick Easter to the third Aviva Premiership Rugby Player of the Month title of the season after they were shortlisted by a prestigious media panel.

The winner was voted for by a panel of media professionals – Nick Mullins (BT Sport), Alastair Eykyn (BT Sport), Mick Cleary (Daily Telegraph), Ian Stafford (Mail on Sunday), Jill Douglas (ITV Sport), Chris Jones (Radio 5 Live), David Rogers (Getty Images) and Ben Coles (Planet Rugby). The panel was chaired by Paul Morgan Premiership Rugby's Communications Director.

Ford wins a trophy from title sponsor Aviva and £250 to donate to a charity of his choice.
