First class cricket coming to the Rec

20 January 2012

Somerset County Cricket Club is delighted to announce that they will be playing their CB40 one day fixture against Durham at The Rec on Sunday 22nd July starting at 1:45pm.

Last season Somerset played a Twenty 20 game on a newly created wicket on the rugby club side of the ground.  This enabled the Club to incorporate the Bath Rugby facilities for the first time ever and the game attracted a large crowd.

Guy Lavender the Chief Executive of Somerset CCC said: "We are delighted to be able to play a match at Bath Rugby this year."

"It's fantastic news that with the cooperation of Bath Rugby and The Rec Trust that we have got a plan in place to play a CB40 match against Durham on July 22nd."

"It was a magnificent event last year and we really hope that we can produce something similar this coming season, apart from the result of course!"

The Chief Executive added: "The Rec is a beautiful setting and it's great to be able to take cricket to other parts of the county, giving people an opportunity to see what first class cricket is all about which is fantastic for the Club"
