Bath Rugby have today been drawn in a fascinating pool for the 2016/17 European Rugby Challenge Cup.
There will be two short trips down the motorway for a meeting with newly-promoted derby rivals Bristol Rugby and Welsh opponents Cardiff Blues. The sole foreign fixture is a trip to the Pyrénées-Atlantiques region of France as Bath take on Section Paloise (better known as 'Pau').
“We’ve been drawn in a really exciting European Rugby Challenge Cup pool," said First Team Coach Toby Booth. "The fact that we’ve got local derbies against Bristol and Cardiff Blues is an added bonus, but one of the great things about European competition is that it gives us an opportunity to go to places like Pau and test ourselves against different styles of play. It also offers our supporters a bit of variety and a fresh spectacle to see us take on teams from different leagues.”
The first round of European Rugby will begin on Thursday 13th October, with precise fixture times and dates to be announced soon.
