Ewels and Stuart named in England side to play Scotland

3 February 2022

Two Bath Rugby players have been named in England’s matchday 23 for their opening 2022 Six Nations match against Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday.

Lock Charlie Ewels and prop Will Stuart have both been named as replacements by Eddie Jones and will hope to finish the game strongly to help their country get off to the best start in the tournament.

Blue, Black and White captain Ewels debuted for his country in November 2016 and aided England’s Test summer tour win over Argentina in the summer following. He featured in all three autumn internationals in November, taking his total number of caps to 26.

Tighthead Stuart has featured a further 14 times in white since earning his maiden cap in the 2020 competition. He was also involved in a successful Autumn Nations Series.

The duo won’t be coming up against Bath teammates Josh Bayliss and Cameron Redpath in Edinburgh. The former is still recovering from concussion while the latter is continuing to collect minutes at club level following a long-term knee injury.
