Richards at the double in England U20s' win

30 June 2022

Ewan Richards had a stormer as England Under-20s bounced back from an opening round defeat to South Africa with a 29-20 victory over France in Round Two of the Six Nations Summer Series.

The 20-year-old, who started in the second row for his country, was on the scoresheet twice as well as carrying on six occasions and making nine tackles in defence.

Both of his tries came in the space of five minutes – both in the same corner. In claiming the first, the Bath Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Season extended his arms over the whitewash as he was being guided into touch before dotting down, whilst the second was a bulldozing crash ball off the back of a George Hendy break.

John Stewart – a try scorer against the Junior Springboks – came off the bench alongside Ethan Staddon, Tom Carr-Smith and Sam Harris to help see the game out in the second half.

Under-18s graduate Harris was making his first appearance for England Under-20s with Staddon earning his second outing after featuring in Round One.
