David Wilson will undergo surgery later this week to relieve pressure on a nerve impingement in his neck.
It will see him miss the rest of England's RBS 6 Nations campaign.
Stuart Lancaster, England Head Coach said: "It is really unfortunate for Davey Wilson and disappointing for us to lose him for the Six Nations. However it was agreed surgery was the best solution to get this issue cleared up."
Mike Ford, Bath Rugby Head Coach said: "We are disappointed for Davey that he'll miss the Six Nations. Following his operation, he'll return to the Club to commence his rehabilitation. His return will be based on his progress during rehab, but our medical team are confident he will be back playing for Bath before the end of the season."
England Rugby will work closely with Bath Rugby's medical staff on his rehabilitation.
