Jonathan Joseph is hoping for consistency as Bath Rugby welcome Wasps in Round 17 of the Gallagher Premiership on Monday (kick-off 15:00, live on BT Sport 1).
Having scored in his last outing at the Rec against London Irish, the centre will be looking for more of the same as an attacking Wasps side are welcomed to the home of the Blue, Black and White tomorrow afternoon.
He said: “It was a very good win against Northampton Saints. I thought the forwards put in one hell of a shift up front. Defensively, we showed a lot of heart out there which was great to see and to grind out a win like that shows how far this team has come.
“I thought Josh Matavesi played well at fly-half, obviously he hasn’t played there for a while, I thought he controlled the game well and pinned the ball in the corners nicely.”
Confidence is running high at Farleigh House as the Blue, Black and White have now claimed three wins in a row following wins against London Irish, Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints and the centre is looking to add to their tally.
“We are extremely confident but we’re not getting ahead of ourselves. We know that there is still lots of work to be done."
“There are still a lot of things that we need to get done in training which will add to our game. We are happy with how things have gone so far, but we just want to tidy up on a few areas that will keep pushing us forward.”
Wasps have won five of their last six matches and were the in form side in the Gallagher Premiership up until Round 16, but Joseph is very wary of the threats they pose.
He continued: “Wasps are a very good side. They carry a lot of attacking threats. They have a lot of boys who are good over the ball and we are going to have to be on our A game to compete with them.
“There are no illusions on that. We are very much focused on ourselves; we are making sure we recover well, train well in the upcoming training sessions and make sure we deliver on the day.
“They have a lot of talented players. Their back row is very strong, their half-back is very talented, Jacob Umaga is a new player on the scene and the backline have a lot of talented players as well. We are just going to have to be on the money from the get-go.
“They like to throw it around. We know the Wasps of late, they like to attack the wide channels and they play through. They like their attacking rugby, so we have to manage the game well and play smart.
