Community Team Support Woodborough's Global Week

21 March 2014

Woodborough Primary School in Pewsey this month celebrated “Global Week” with a little help from the Bath Rugby Community Team.

Amongst a whole host of other sports, pupils at the school took part in games of football, volleyball, tennis and, of course, rugby!

Despite the foggy conditions, the Community team were able put the children – from Reception to Year Six – through their paces with a series of fun events. Key to these were the Children’s Challenges, which are part of the Bath Rugby Junior Membership Club scheme. The fun and games included the inflatable speed-passing target, tag rugby games, the Dave Attwood “Hula Hoop” challenge and the Matt Banahan “Keepie Uppie” challenge.

The children showed great enthusiasm and adeptness throughout the day, which finished with a whole school assembly celebrating the children’s achievements with a video presentation.

Steve Middleton, Bath Rugby Community manager, called the day “a fantastic celebration of sport for youngsters”. “It’s heartening to see how the pupils have embraced all these sports,” he said. “A lot of the games were unfamiliar to some of them, but that didn’t put them off. Everybody had lots of fun and it’s a celebration that should go from strength to strength each year.”
