Beechen Cliff School made it two victories out of three on Wednesday with a comprehensive 3-31 victory on the road against City of Oxford College to move to second in the AASE South Group.
The Bath Rugby Partnership Programme produced a strong defensive display in the first period to reduce Oxford to just three first half points despite long periods spent on the attack. Beechen Cliff’s resilience shone through with tries from Archie Alexander and Ollie de Glanville giving the visitors a 12-3 lead in windy conditions.
Bath Rugby’s Orlando Bailey and de Glanville played a pivotal role in managing the game in difficult conditions in the second half. Gabe Goss scored twice, with Bailey adding another to score 19 unanswered points in a clinical second 40 minutes.
Beechen Cliff will host top of the table Hartpury next Wednesday, with last season’s winners unbeaten in their opening three games.
