Beechen Cliff will take on Hartpury College this Wednesday looking to become the 2020 ACE League champions.
The RFU ACE League pits the partner state schools or colleges of all the Premiership clubs against each other in a National League of exceptional quality. Hartpury College are affiliated to Gloucester Rugby.
The ACE League final between the two sides will take place at Cheltenham Tigers RFC at 16:30 and it is the second time the two have met at this stage of the competition.
Back in 2018, Hartpury won 26-20 in a nail-biting game. Beechen Cliff backed that up in 2019 with another final, this time going down 31-23 to St Paul’s Catholic College. Hartpury have an enviable record in this competition, which stretches back to 2008, winning all but two of the 15 Championships.
Beechen Cliff have had a strong season though, dominating their Phase Two group, collecting 14 out of 15 points available. Back in October they met in the Phase One groups, Hartpury won narrowly, 33-28, but Beechen have been improving game by game since.
It should make for an epic contest. Could Beechen Cliff claim a maiden title at the third attempt, becoming the first side to beat Hartpury in a final in the process?
