With pre-season done, attention turns to what all the hard work has been building towards – the opening day of the Gallagher Premiership campaign.
Over the past five weeks we have heard from Attack and Backs Coach David Williams and fly-half Danny Cipriani on our new style and how we will aim to get back to it from all on-field situations.
We have heard from Head Coach Neal Hatley, Sam Underhill and Miles Reid on our defensive responsibilities and how that area of our game contributes to our style. Tom Dunn, Charlie Ewels, Line-out Coach Luke Charteris and Scrum Coach Mark Lilley have also spoken about how important our set piece is to our game.
We have taken you behind the scenes with Bath Rugby Unseen, powered by Dyson, and episode six delves into our preparation for our Round 1 trip to Sale Sharks.
Hatley and full-back Tom de Glanville discuss their excitement ahead of the match at the AJ Bell Stadium in episode six and how much preparation has gone into the match with Alex Sanderson’s side.
“We’ve done things differently, as a group, as a coaching group,” Hatley said.
“We made a commitment last year, after games like Montpellier, we felt we had lost games where we hadn’t even thrown a punch or had a real dig. We’ve made a real commitment not to be that team. We’ve tried to address things a lot differently as a coaching team and that’s really filtered down to the players.
"I’m looking forward to seeing how that goes under the pressure of a game, against a very good side, one that finished in the top four last year.
“I can’t wait to see the new guys, the new players who get an opportunity; I can’t wait to see how they go. There’s some older players like Semesa Rokoduguni who has been absolutely outstanding throughout pre-season so I can’t wait, I really can’t wait.”
“Everyone’s pretty excited,” de Glanville said.
“We know what they’re going to bring and how they’re going to come at us, so we need to impose the way we want to play onto them and be brave with what we want to do with the ball and, hopefully, score some good tries and get the win.”
