Bath Rugby have confirmed their U18s team to face Exeter Chiefs U18s in the Premiership Rugby U18 Academy League at the Rec on Saturday, kick-off 13:15.
The competition is a stepping stone for young players with high potential, to promote their development and prepare them for the next stage of their rugby journey. Opportunities will be provided for some of Bath Rugby’s U17s and U16s within this competition, whilst some of Bath Rugby’s U18 players could feature in the Premiership Rugby Shield matches, which continues to run in conjunction to the competition.
Bath Rugby’s Academy Manager, Andy Rock said: “We want to ensure maximum stretch and challenge for the young men that we’re trying to develop within this competition. We will select a team every week that we feel will best-serve our player development objectives, and to challenge our group to find solutions on the field. Ultimately, we want to challenge them to find a way to win, but this is not the only focus.
“We know that in the (Gallagher) Premiership, where we believe some of these young men will eventually play, every weekend is a weekend to select your best possible team and to go out and win. The experiences might look and feel slightly different to this right now for our U18 squad, as the emphasis is absolutely on development and preparing our players for those future challenges and expectations. I’m excited to see our coaching staff and players continuing to develop together over the next eight weeks”.
