Bath Rugby Under-18s’ season gets underway against Bristol Bears Under-18s on Friday night at Chippenham RFC (19:30 kick-off).
For many of the Under-18s group, the Premiership U18 League will be their first run of competitive fixtures for over a year due to Covid-19.
Some featured for the junior Blue, Black and Whites at the backend of the 2020/21 campaign with four matches arranged with the squad taking part in the U18 RFU Festival in August.
Captain Arthur Green lines up at Number 8, leading a pack containing Max Pearce, Eddie Erskine, Will Jeanes, Max Jenkins and Archie McKibben – all of whom have represented the Under-18s previously. Props Eric Nixon-Castillo and Billy Sela complete the pack.
Ieuan Davies and Raff Weston pair up in the half-back positions with Sam Harris and Will Parry forming a midfield partnership. Max Ashton, McKenzi Rawlings and Byron Lloyd-Gilmour make up the Bath back three.
“It’s great to start with a West Country derby against Bristol Bears at Chippenham RFC,” Academy Manager Craig Lilley said.
“The group have put in a huge amount of effort over the past few months, as have the staff, in order to continue their learning on the training field and their physical development in the gym. Nathan Catt and Louis Messer will lead the team for the season we are excited to see their development as coaches too.
"Games with Bristol at this level are always competitive and we are excited to see the lads out on the field, putting their learnings into practice.”
The Under-18s’ match against Bristol is free to attend at Chippenham RFC. Our hosts’ Clubhouse will be open from 18:00 and will be serving fantastic festive beverages and cracking BBQ food.
