Bath Rugby to continue supporting existing charity partners for the 2017/18 season

22 August 2017

Bath Rugby is delighted to confirm that the Club will continue to support Bath Cats and Dogs Home, RUH Forever Friends Appeal, Samaritans of Bath, as well as the Club charity, Bath Rugby Foundation for the 2017-18 season.

With the help of our fantastic supporters, the Club raised over £100,000 for charitable causes last season and the partnership with its local charities will continue in the new campaign, which gets underway in just a few weeks time.

Managing Director, Tarquin McDonald said: “We are really pleased to continue our association with our three local charity partners alongside Bath Rugby Foundation, the charitable arm of the Club.

“Through the generosity of our supporters, we have been able to make a considerable positive impact on the community and really help these charities make a difference in the areas they work in. We are looking forward to seeing these relationships go from strength-to-strength over the coming year.”

The charities will benefit from a share of the matchday fundraising throughout the season, so please give what you can at the Recreation Ground this season as every penny helps these organisations to make Bath better.

Bath Rugby Foundation

Bath Rugby Foundation is the charitable arm of Bath Rugby Club set up to empower young people in Bath and surrounding areas to succeed. They use the values of rugby to inspire young people to create a better future for themselves. Their focus is on improving Health, Education, Employability and Inclusion in the South West. Bath is a city famed for its Roman baths, impressive Georgian architecture, Jane Austen - and of course its rugby club. But behind the Georgian façade lies a different story. 20% of children in Bath are living in poverty .And that’s why Bath Rugby Foundation has created a host of programmes that ensure every young person, no matter their background, is given the tools they need to succeed – to create a better future for themselves.

Samaritans of Bath

Samaritans is always there for anyone struggling to cope. It is dedicated to ensuring that fewer people in our local area die by suicide – but you don’t have to be suicidal to use their services. The Samaritans are entirely volunteer run, and answer one call every sixty seconds. Volunteers are on the phones 24/7 and also head out to the RUH, local schools and Leyhill Open Prison to offer confidential support to vulnerable people.

RUH Forever Friends Appeal – Cancer Centre Appeal

The Forever Friends Appeal funds projects that make a real difference to the lives of hundreds of thousands of patients cared for by the Royal United Hospitals each year as well as the friends and family who visit them. The funds help to pay for additional equipment, research and innovations, as well as finishing touches and ‘extras’ that complement the existing high quality care at the Hospitals. One in three people are affected by cancer. Every day lives are changed forever by this disease. RUH will use funds to build the best cancer centre for a district general hospital in the UK.

Bath Cats and Dogs Home

Bath Cats and Dogs Home is committed to the welfare of companion animals. They rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals, who are unwanted and far too often mistreated or neglected. They promote good pet ownership by education sessions in the local community. Last year they took in over 1300 animals. They work with local community services such as schools and retirement homes – which benefits both the animal and person interacting with them.
