Bath Rugby can today confirm the Club’s playing group in preparation for the remainder of the 2019/20 season with changes made to the side as announced on 4 June.
The senior squad see three new faces join the set-up, making a total of 58 players in the squad. The Blue, Black and White welcome back Bath supporter favourite Will Spencer, whilst England Rugby World Cup finalist Ben Spencer and experienced Super Rugby forward Juan Schoeman also join from Saracens and The Sharks respectively.
This also includes the emergence of Gabe Hamer-Webb who committed his long-term future to the Club last month, with the winger holding the quickest rise to the senior squad in Bath Rugby history. The squad also includes England U20 star Cam Redpath, who is awaiting his chance to make his first appearance, and Fijian international Josh Matavesi, who joined the Club halfway through the 2019/20 season.
The Bath Rugby Senior Academy squad list has also been confirmed with seven exciting additions progressing through the Player Pathway system. This sees Orlando Bailey, Gabe Goss, John Stewart, Ethan Staddon, Ewan Richards, Frankie Read and Tom Carr-Smith move up from the U18 Academy group into the Senior Academy, having all committed their futures to Bath Rugby.
Director of Rugby Stuart Hooper said: “Our recruitment this year brings us the opportunity to build on our start of 2019/20, to continue to develop our game and keep building the relationships that will drive us. Ben, Will and Juan all bring strong attributes which will develop our game. These young men are all eager to improve and be part of our success.
“I feel incredibly proud of our pathway and the quality we are delivering there. To bring seven players up this season is testament not only to the players themselves but also to the work of the Academy staff over many years. To add seven more homegrown players into our full-time environment is a great sign of commitment to our vision and to the talented young men in our region.”
