On Friday 20th April, the Bath Rugby Golf Society launched their season of competitions with the opening event at Orchardleigh Golf Club. The next event takes place on Friday 18th May at Lansdown Golf Club, click here to book your place today.
A wet and windy week leading into the first event suggested to many eager members and guests that this could be a long and testing day for all the golfers, whatever their handicap. However, despite the hail storm which welcomed the golfers to Orchardleigh, as the first four ball took to the tee, the sun began to shine and the inaugural match for the Golf Society was officially underway.
The day was hotly contested and as the score cards were returned the lead was continually changing. As the final results reflect that the event was a closely run race.
The eventual winners emerged from groups who had taken to the course in the middle of the pack, but had, along the way, also swept up the nearest to the pin and longest drive prizes as well.
- 1st Prize – James Brain and Mark Bailey, 44 Points
- 2nd Prize – Jon Green and Ollie McGivern, 42 Points
- 3rd Prize – Ben Ingham and Andrew Shanley 42 Points
- Longest Drive (18th) – James Brain
- Nearest to the Pin (10th) – Rob Mulvey
The day was rounded off with a well deserved and delicious two course meal and plenty of drinks.
Special thanks goes to Great Western Wine and Gordon Bloor who supported the day with a superb array of prizes.
Thanks must also go to Orchardleigh Golf Club for helping us host a fantastic day and of course to those who attended.
