Freddie Burns has confirmed that he will be leaving Bath Rugby at the end of his contract to join Tokyo-based Toyota Shokki Shuttles in Japan’s Rugby Top League.
The Bath-born fly-half announced his departure on his social media channels this morning and said: “I’d like to thank the Bath supporters for the love they’ve shown me over my three years with the club. As a Bath boy I’ll always be a Bath fan and I wish everyone all the best moving forward.”
Burns has made 66 appearances with the Blue, Black and White since returning to the Club in 2017.
The former Beechen Cliff School pupil has also won five caps for England, with his debut coming in a 38-21 victory against New Zealand in December 2012.
Stuart Hooper said, “It’s always great to see a departing player move on with such exciting opportunities and a contract secured for the next stage of their career. We wish Freddie all the best at his new club and thank him for his contribution to ours.”
