CircleBath have joined Bath Rugby as their new medical partner.
The partnership has been agreed for the coming two seasons, however, both parties are keen to establish a long term relationship. The new private hospital, which opened in 2010 and is located just south of Bath, already has close ties with the Club as it shares the same sports medicine expert.
Nick Blofeld, Chief Executive of Bath Rugby, said: "We are very pleased to welcome CircleBath as our new medical partner. CircleBath's ambition is to exceed expectations at every level in the delivery of healthcare and the promotion of wellbeing amongst elite and amateur sportspeople alike has impressed us all and we are looking forward to developing this partnership further over the coming two seasons."
Julian Widdowson, who has been involved with Bath Rugby since 2004, and has been Head of Sports Medicine for the Club since 2007, is also a partner at CircleBath and played a key role in establishing the hospital's Sports Medicine Centre, which is equipped to the highest standards in the UK.
"We are delighted to be supporting Bath Rugby in the capacity of its official medical partner," said Jonathan Boulton, clinical chairman of the employee-owned hospital.
"We are proud to be working with such a dynamic club at an exciting stage. With so many Bath Rugby supporters among our clinical and administrative staff here at the hospital, we feel it is a fantastic way for CircleBath to be involved in something so important and much-loved by the City, and through sport, promoting more active lifestyles," he added.
CircleBath also confirmed that it will take an active role in the Club's community outreach programmes.
A number of Bath Rugby players have already received treatment at the state-of-the-art hospital, among them Olly Barkley, who was transferred to the private hospital for rehabilitation after he fractured his leg earlier this year during the away game against Gloucester.
Barkley, who is still visiting the hospital as part of his ongoing rehabilitation programme said: "It's great to have a facility like CircleBath, which has a fantastic level of care and great food, right on our doorstep."
The CircleBath hospital is part of Europe's largest healthcare partnership, Circle.
Among over 20 clinical specialities, it is noted for knee and hip surgery, as well as its state-of-the-art sports medicine facility which is dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries and musculoskeletal problems. The hospital, which opened in early 2010, was designed in a partnership between renowned architecture firm Foster + Partners and the doctors and consultants now working at the hospital. It treats both private and NHS patients and, in June 2011, 98.5% of patients surveyed said they would recommend it to family and friends.
