Matt Banahan has been honoured for his contributions to rugby by being inducted into the Premiership Rugby Hall of Fame.
Considered a legend at The Rec, Banahan will be celebrated at the Gallagher Premiership Final this weekend at Twickenham.
In his 11 years at the club, Banahan amassed 256 appearances and 100 tries in Blue, Black and White, before moving to Gloucester to see out the final years of his professional rugby career.
Huge in stature, and even bigger in personality, since his retirement in 2021, Banahan has never been far from the home of Bath Rugby, frequently providing match commentary, and recently becoming a citing commissioner for the RFU working on several Premiership matches.
In one last run out at The Rec, Banahan featured for the Barbarians as they took on the Blue, Black and White back in November 2022.
Alongside him and also being inducted are Leicester Tigers stalwart Tom Youngs, and Saracens legend Brad Barritt.
Of the inductees, Rugby Director at Premiership Rugby, Phil Winstanley, said: "The 2023 inductees to the Premiership Rugby Hall of Fame have been outstanding rugby players who made a monumental contribution to the success of their clubs and England.
“Beyond their brilliance on the pitch, all three are also great people and have been terrific ambassadors for the Premiership and our sport over many years.
“We will be honoured to welcome Matt, Brad and Tom, and their families, to the Gallagher Premiership Final this Saturday, and we look forward to witnessing the Twickenham crowd show its appreciation for three of the league’s true greats at half-time.”
