Aviva Premiership Rugby Schools Programme comes to the Rec

1 October 2013

Half-time at the Bath Rugby v London Irish game saw a fantastic display of tag rugby. Ilchester and St Gildas, two primary schools from Yeovil, each played a team from St Johns R.C Primary school, Bath.

The children had a great day cheering on Bath Rugby and then took to the pitch and again had the crowd on their feet. The crowd were cheering every try which encouraged the children to show off their individual skills even more, with outstanding dodging, great passes and teamwork, the tries were endless!

All the schools have been involved in the 'Aviva Premiership Rugby Schools Programme' which is based on inclusion and fun. It is delivered over a five-week period culminating in a festival for all the children involved.

Tom Abbott a teacher from St Gildas Primary in Yeovil said: "The children have had such a fun day; it's a fantastic opportunity for them. Playing in front of the Bath Rugby faithful has given them a taster of what professional sport can be. I'm sure this will be a day they remember for a very long time."

A massive Bath Rugby thanks to all the children and teachers for their hard work and enthusiasm, which made for a great day.
