When Bath Rugby recently played Cardiff Blues at the Recreation Ground, there was a different kind of battle going on off the pitch - the battle of the brews!
Now that all the votes have been counted, we can reveal that "Team Banahan" was the overwhelming favourite with the Bath Rugby supporters.
"The Jersey Flyer" saw Matt Banahan's big and bold personality replicated in an English bitter with both fruit and bitterness on the palate. The combination tickled the tastebuds of the Rec faithful, and just under 70% who sampled both voted it the better brew, ahead of Duncan Bell's "The Belly Buster".
To celebrate, and with thanks to Wadworth, "The Jersey Flyer" will be making a special return to the Rec on Saturday 22nd February when Bath host London Wasps.
"This has been a really fun process to be involved in, and something really different to running around the field" commented Matt. "Wadworth helped us to create two very good brews, but the good people who come along to support us on a matchday clearly know what they like! A big thank you to Colin, Brian and everyone at Wadworth for their help and expertise, and it's great to hear that people will have another chance to enjoy it at our game against Wasps in a few weeks."
Of those who voted on the day, Martin Bewley was the lucky winner of a Wadworth 6X mini-cask and four tickets to our Amlin Challenge Cup Quarter-Final against Brive on Sunday 6th April. Congratulations, Martin, and have a great day.
