Pool B leaders England ground their way to a 17-13 win against Australia to cement their place in the World Rugby U20 Championships in Manchester.

Having already seen off Italy and Scotland, England claimed their third victory from three matches at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Bath Rugby Academy fullback Darren Atkins and number eight Zach Mercer both started in the impressive victory, meaning England will now feature in a semi-final against South Africa at the Manchester City Academy Stadium on Monday.

In other U20 news, Scotland ran in four tries to beat Italy 27-19, with Academy fly-half Adam Hastings converting two tries and kicking a penalty as Scotland finished Pool B in second place behind England.

In senior international news, Bath Rugby number eight David Denton has been named on the bench for Scotland for their match against Japan at Toyota City Stadium.
