A trip down memory lane at the Bath Rugby Legends Evening

24 April 2012

If you were passing the Rec on Friday evening then you probably heard some raucous laughter and much merriment as Bath Rugby hosted our first Legends Evening in our VIP Marquee.

We were delighted to welcome back a whole host of Bath Rugby greats including Jack Rowell, Phil de Glanville, Richard Hill, John Mallett, Simon Jones, Mike Catt, Matt Perry, Ben Cundy, Iestyn Lewis, Graham Dawe, John Horton, Eric Peters, Danny Grewcock, John Hall, Roger Spurrell, Andy Beattie, Zak Feaunati, Keith Hoskin, John Morrison, Paul Simpson, Mike Beese, Damian Cronin, Kevin Yates and Nigel Gaymond.

The evening was hosted by our resident Legend and Club President David Trick. The players, in their innocence, thought they were simply coming along to chat to the supporters and enjoy an evening of reminiscing. However, Tricky had other ideas, namely the 'Ultimate Legend-Off'!

Each of the players were called up to take part in a series of pub games including darts, a drinking challenge and of course, every rugby players' favourite game – spoof! After some gruelling and nail biting rounds the winner was declared. Damian Cronin – we hope you are a proud man!

After a delicious three course meal and some great entertainment, guests and legends mingled for the remainder of the evening – sharing memories and probably a few tall tales before time was called on a most enjoyable evening for guests and legends alike.

Bath Rugby would of course like to thank all of the legends for coming along and supporting a great evening – without you and all of David Trick's hard work the evening would never have happened. We would also like to thank our generous supporters who helped raise funds for the Bath Rugby Foundation.

Finally we would of course like to thank all who attended – we had a great evening and we hope you did too.
