6 Nations Watch

6 February 2017

There were a number of Bath Rugby representatives on international duty, with all five players on the winning side on the opening weekend of the 6 Nations.

England v France

Bath Rugby's George Ford and Jonathan Joseph played from the start as England recorded a dramatic 19-16 win on the opening weekend of the RBS 6 Nations against a resurgent French side.

However, they left it late in the day, with Worcester Warriors' Ben Te'o scoring 10 minutes from full-time to ensure a record-breaking 15th successive victory for England.

England U20 v France U20

Fresh from signing a new contract with Bath last week, Zach Mercer was an influential figure in England's bonus-point 59-17 victory against France.  The 19-year-old played an integral role in three of England's first half tries with a clever offload releasing back row colleague Tom Curry for their fourth try. Mercer's club teammate Josh Bayliss was also involved in the matchday squad at Sandy Park, Exeter.

Italy Women v Wales Women

Caryl Thomas, who works for the Bath Rugby Foundation scored her first international try for Wales as they saw off the challenge of Italy in Ancona.

The prop opened Wales' try-scoring account giving her side an early 0-10 lead. A further two tries ensured a comprehensive 8-20 victory on the opening weekend of their Six Nations campaign.
