In one hundred days' time, Bath Rugby Foundation, Gloucester Rugby and Bristol Rugby Community Foundation will join forces for Break the Cycle 2015.
The 110-mile fundraising cycle sees supporters of each club’s charity or Foundation – in this case, Bath Rugby Foundation - cycle a route between Bath’s Recreation Ground, Gloucester’s Kingsholm and Bristol Rugby’s Ashton Gate, and finally back along the cycle path to the Rec. There will be various pit stops along the route and the day will finish with a BBQ and a few celebratory beers and glasses of wine.
This unique collaboration between three of the West Country's leading rugby clubs is now in its fifth year. The 110-mile ride – the biggest rugby charity cycling event in the South-West - will see over five hundred cyclists from Bristol, Bath and Gloucester come together for the unique, one-day fundraising challenge with all funds raised going to the clubs' three Charities or Foundation operations.
At the time of writing Bath Rugby Foundation have 64 registered cyclists and are keen to entice a few more to take part. There will be several former Bath players participating and we're hopeful of convincing one or two of the current squad to take part as their rugby duties for the season will be over (for a short while, prior to pre-season training).
If you're a regular cyclist you'll know what it takes to complete 110 miles in a day, if you're a novice, believe me you have plenty of time to get fit enough to take on this challenge. Optional group rides will be taking place frequently between now and June to ensure everyone enjoys the experience on the day.
For more information on the challenge please visit http://www.bristolcharitycyclingchallenge.co.uk/ on this page you will also have the opportunity to register to ride for Bath Rugby Foundation.
The cost of registration is £30 and we are asking all riders to use their best endeavours to raise £200 for the charity. We will happily offer advice on how to achieve this.
Go on - take a look at the challenge and then register. If you need some more convincing please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
