Speaking to Geoff Twentyman about a variety of topics from training methods to the development of the attacking performance, the Attack and Backs Coach praised the likes of Orlando Bailey, Max Ojomoh and Tom de Glanville for their growth.

“We’re exposing a number of young players to the Premiership which is unbelievable,” he said.

“What you get with those young guys is unbelievable energy and they’re sometimes immune to what’s going on on the outside because they’re young and bulletproof.

“You can see the growth in them. As a coach, they are like your sons; you feel for them in the scoreboard side of the game at times but you see these young men growing into player who one day will influence games on the Rec. And we’ll look back at this part of the season and say it was all worth it for that moment.

“Each week you come in it’s a blessing to work with these guys. You’re seeing human growth in these people and you wish you could share it with the fans.

"I understand the scoreboard is what people look at at the end of the day but sharing (with the fans the players’ growth) is what I’m passionate about.

“On a Saturday afternoon, they need the Rec to be behind them and blow them across the line. You can feel their frustrations when it’s not going well but be that massive support when you see moments of growth from these young men who are from the region. They are like their own sons – they are sons of the region.”
